AMAL
Who was in it:
Rupinder Nagra, Naseerudin Shah, Seema Biswas (this is an Indian film, so you might not recognize the actors)

The Basics:
Amal was a very interesting and compelling movie about a simple man living in India who never wanted more than to drive his rickshaw taxi. But this all changes when he drives a very angry man. He recognizes Amal's kindness and when this man dies, leaves his $30 million fortune to Amal. This rich man's lawyer has 30 days to find Amal. At the same time, the man's son is upset and does not want Amal to have the money. This is a wild tail is about a taxi driver and his soon-to-be-wealthy life.

What's good:
I really enjoyed this movie. Each one of the actors did a terrific job playing his/her part. You really started to love Rupinder Nagra (Amal), and his simple ways. The plot kept you on the edge of you seat the whole time. You really felt like you were in Delhi, India, hanging out of Amal's rickshaw.

What's not:
Not much to complain about, but, I wouldn't recommend this movie for young children. There is a lot of strong language and a murder scene. If the director took these scenes out, it would have been a lot more family-friendly movie.

Bottom Line:
This was an excellent foreign movie, and it's got my vote for the best movie of SBIFF so far. 5 Stars.
