ONE MILE ABOVE

...is about a chinese young man who takes on a challenge to ride a very hard road from Lijiang to Lhasa, the highest point in Tibet, because it was his dead brothers wish to complete it. This film takes you from the brothers memorial service to victory after an 1100 mile bike ride on one of the hardest trails.

In One Mile Above they do a very good job of showing all the suffering and physical pain put into this trip. It also shows the emotional suffering he goes through on his journey. There are parts when there is a particularly hard stretch and they zoom out to show how steep, long or rocky the area is and it gives you a whole different perspective.

In one scene he has a long day of riding and when they are at the campfire he finds that he has chaffing on the side of his leg. Then it shows what pants he was wearing and it is almost enough to make you lose all hope. His pants are not made for riding even just a few miles let alone 1100. This turns out to be just one of the many obstacles in his journey.

This was a good film, but it seemed to rush through scenes sometimes. By the end you are not sure if he is done or just looking happy and then it goes on to the cast listing abruptly. The story was touching but rushed so I give it a 3.5 out of 5. !
