RISE OF THE GUARDIANS

Directed by PETER RAMSEY

Review by Matt Rollins

Peter Ramsey’s “Rise of the Guardians” based off the series of books written by William Joyce. A fantastic family film about all of the mystical characters that children love, such as Santa (Alec Baldwin), Jack Frost (Chris Pine), Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), The Sandman, The Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher). Also the villain that all little kids are scared of… like The Boogeyman (Jude Law). A story about all of them, and how they try to make sure all of the kids still believe in. Fun for the whole family!

Aside from the actual story line, the 3D animation was outstanding and they did an exceptional job of making sure that the characters pop out as much as possible, and they definitely take advantage of making 3D films! If you saw this movie in the 2D version, people are still blown away from the animation, and they are pulled in by all of the bright colors and rich story line.

When watching the movie, you can notice that there are many funny scenes, emotional scenes, and happy scenes. There are also scenes that just stand out. Every time that all of the characters are with each other, you know that an adventure is coming your way! Not just scenes, but many standout performances by award winning actors. Alec Baldwin was just pure hilarious, they put a new twist on Santa Claus, and made him better than ever!

In my opinion, there were some cheesy/corny parts in the film, but what am I supposed to expect? It’s a kid’s movie, but aside from that it had touching parts that we can all relate to, and funny parts that we can all laugh to. Guaranteed that you will laugh at least once. Personally, it touched me and I would give it a 4 out of 5 review!
