SOUND CITY

...directed by Dave Grohl, frontman of the “Foo Fighters” and former drummer of “Nirvanna” was a remarkable film about the legendary Sound City Studios. It talked about the whole history of the studio and the reason why the studio is so special… The Neve Board, a very rare soundboard that was very expensive and all off the musicians talk about it. You think that it is over after they talk about the studio and the Neve board, but it is actually, just the beginning. The story picks up with Dave Grohl buying the soundboard. He takes the soundboard to his studio and gets all of the legendary musicians that recorded at Sound City, and he makes an incredible record with all of those people.

I don’t even know what cameras they used for this film. It was one of the most HD documentary’s that I had ever seen. The cameras were amazing and the layout. It was a timeline layout for the studio, and then it talks about the process of the record called “Reel to Real.”

Every time that you see a musician, it is very interesting, because you get to hear their opinions on things. I give Dave Grohl so much more respect for making this movie, because it shows his passion for music, and how he cared about the studio and about the Neve Board, and he is definitely multi-talented because it also shows his skill at filmmaking.

I definitely give this film a 5/5 review because it was not only very rare done, but they talk about more than just the studio. There are also cameos from dozens of amazing musicians. I recommend this film to anybody interested in music, documentaries, and filmmaking in general. I thought it was fantastic!
