It started around 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5th, near Jesusita Point, in the hills behind our school. The fire moved fast the first day, but hot weather and gusting winds drove it at highway speeds through the mountains and some neighborhoods. School was cancelled for the next three days, and it caused the evacuation of 30% of the city. A this point in time, the Jesisita Fire is still smoldering.
