GET LOW

Reviewed by Griff

Imagine taking three actors, all American icons, putting them together in an amazing drama, and viola! You have Get Low. The film, stars Robert Duvall, Bill Muray, and Sissy Spacek. This somewhat-true story of the south, tells the story of an old hermit, Felix Bush (Duvall), who wishes to have his own funeral when he is alive. A funeral home owner, Frank Quinn (Murray), accepts the offer to help him. Felix wants everyone who has a story about him to come and tell it at his funeral. People are resistant, for he has a legend of being a bad man. Some people have faith in him, like Mattie Darrow (Spacek), an old friend who was recently widowed, and moved back into town. In the end Felix gathers everyone from the town together to tell them a story nobody had heard.

This movie was great! It brought so many emotions to me. Sure, these three actors are older now, but they haven't lost anything, they are all great. Robert Duvall portrays, the grumpy, misunderstood, hermit, and brings the sadness to the film. Bill Murray, brings the comedy to the film, with his role as a greedy owner of a funeral home. Sissy Spacek brings the point of forgiveness to the film. It was really fantastic, based off a true story. I have to give credit to the director though. It was his first time directing a film, and he did a great job. Not to mention he edited it!

I give Get Low a 5 out 5 because it is so beautifully done. It might be the best film I've seen at the festival.
