LIFE 2.0

Reviewed by Lexi

Life 2.0 is a movie about the harsh reality of the cyber game Second Life. It follows the stories of three people or situations who have two lives: one real and one online. All three of the stories have a problem in their real life and they are trying to work around these challenges hoping to do everything except quit the game. The people have a missing piece in their lives and are trying to find it in Second Life. One story is about love, another is about how this online venture can make money, and the last story is about uncovering a childhood memory of being abused as a child. Second Life is fine until the line of reality and online reality get blurred together.

Life 2.0 was a glimpse of real people into their online world known as Second Life. Second Life is a way for people to escape from reality and make up a new, and sometimes better life for themselves. This simulation game is addicting. Most of the people spend 15 to 20 hours a day on second life. Reality is suddenly lost, and it becoms more important for your avatar (your online person) to have new things, more exciting adventures, and have a bigger house than it is for you to eat and sleep. The users seem to begin to believe that the avatars in the game are real, and these people start talking about their avatars like they are another human being.

I rate this film 3 out of 5.
