LEMMY

Reviewed by Chris

Lemmy is a rockumentary, created by Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski, that follows one of the most influential and legendary people in the progressing rock community, Lemmy Kilmister! You get to see what is behind the stone-cold character that is Lemmy and take a look into his past, influences, and daily life as a non-stop rocker. Lemmy is known for his mutton-chops, trade-mark voice, and his "I'm-gonna-do-it-my-way style." This movie completes the circle, and many of our guesses, showing that with the rest of Lemmy's time he really just plays the slot-machine, drinks with friends, writes music, and collects WW-II memerobilia. Despite his laidback nature, Lemmy is an honest man, "making music because [he's] not qualified to do anything else." To this day he still strikes people with his unequaled lyrics, signature bass, and the hard rock and roll that he has stamped on this world forever.

"If an atom bomb fell on the earth, Lemmy and cockroaches is all that would survive." (quote from crazed fan).

The thing that I thought was great about Lemmy was the interviews and commentaries they were able to get from the rest of the pantheon of rockers such as Ozzy, Slash, Metallica, Dave Grohl, etc. The wide perspectives and views of all these friends of Lemmy really narrowed down to one true point: "Lemmy is the baddest mother on the planet." The way that Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski were able to get all these people to talk about Lemmy, and the way the film makers wove it together with Lemmy's life is what made this movie the 5/5 that it is.
