My name is Katie. I am a seventh grader at SBMS. I am a reporter for Teen Press.

We go all around Santa Barbara, interviewing people, from the homeless of Santa Barbara, to Robert De Niro at the Bacara. My other hobbies are playing bass, guitar, and drums. I play in a band outside of school, but inside of school, I’m constantly thinking about the next story for Teen Press.

I wanted to be in Teen Press because of learning all there is to know about journalism and reporting, and for the Film Festival. When I go to the Film Festival on my own, I always used to see the SBMS Teen Press going backstage, and I thought “that could be me in a couple years,” and it is, now I have the opportunity of going backstage at SBIFF and interviewing big-time celebraties. It isn’t as easy as I thought though, we spend several hours preparing, writing questions, and making phone calls to make these interviews happen.

I am very happy that I was one of the 3 boys to get into Teen Press! I know that I will conduct awesome interviews, and get as much information as I can about everyone that I interview. I got to experience Teen Press last quarter, but I’ve heard that the quarter with the Film Festival, is the most hectic, yet most fun. I am very excited to get as many interviews as I can this quarter!
