Hi, my name is Addie. I am an eighth grader at Santa Barbara Middle School. I am a Reporter for the team.

I love to play soccer, softball, piano, and to surf. I play on Santa Barbara Soccer Club for the GU14 White Team in the premier division of the Coast Soccer League. I have been playing the piano for about two years, and recently started softball and surfing. A fact about me is that I always try to make the best of every situation and see the best in everybody. I love challenging myself and being outdoors.

Brianna Scurry, the first African American goalkeeper on the USA’s National Soccer Team, is my inspiration. She inspires me to want to play goalie in the Olympics and to learn about how the other athletes got there. I dream that the Teen Press will cover the 2016 Olympics and interview the soccer players and the sprinters. I would love to interview the sprinters because they train so hard to sprint for just a few seconds. And I can’t imagine the level of mental toughness required to train that intensely. That would take a ton of willpower.

Some of my favorite films and TV shows are The Heat, Lie to Me, 42, and American Hustle. I loved The Heat with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy because it was hilarious, the TV show Lie to Me because I find it so interesting, 42 because of inspiring it was, and American Hustle because of the incredible acting. One film that I am looking forward to seeing is Dallas Buyers Club.

I joined Teen Press because I love the power the microphone has to give courage to those who would otherwise have none. A quote that inspires me is “If the wind will not serve, take the oars.”
